Trail Blazer Award

A trailblazer is someone who’s a pathfinder leading the way forward. Someone with visionary leadership, commitment to excellence, and dedication to a worthy cause. Someone steadfast in their undertakings, never wavering, driven, focused, and committed.

A trailblazer establishes the new normal by setting the highest standard for others to follow, not just people of color, but all people. There are no career limitations or excluded categories, however, preferably the person should be someone within our community.

Cornerstone Award

The Cornerstone Award is a distinguished award presented to someone who has demonstrated a strong commitment to principles Metropolitan Kappa Youth Foundation holds near and dear – Youth education and leadership development. Our youth are the most important part of our community.

The cornerstone is the strongest building block of any foundation and the basis of which everything else is built upon. Therefore, the awardee should be a person who has demonstrated ability to build a foundation for our youth to build upon. Their experience, career or non-profit volunteerism influencing youth education or leadership is highly preferred.

Volunteer of the Year Award

The volunteer of the year demonstrates extraordinary leadership, tireless energy, dedication, inspiration, commitment and service to the community or Metropolitan Kappa Youth Foundation to serve the youths within our community.

The volunteer is recognized by their peers, neighbors, friends, community as an advocate of education within the community consistent with MKYF principles. They willingly sacrifice their time, talents, and treasures in the service of others. There are no limitations or excluded categories, however, preferably someone within our community.
